Five Deadly Venoms

Five Deadly Venoms Review CFIR

This week we’re taking a trip to 1978. That’s right, your four favorite cult film podcasters are talking kung fu flicks as they take on Five Deadly Venoms a.k.a. Five Venoms! In this episode, we discuss how the Shaw Brothers’ Five Deadly Venoms stands out among the slew of other kung fu films released in the 1970s. A little later, we talk a lot about how the plot of this Chang Cheh film makes it a cut above other martial arts films such as Bloodsport and The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin. Also, we praise many of the actors in this film for their ability to match their personalities to the five, unique fighting styles witnessed in this film. Finally, we have to ask ourselves, what is our favorite of the Five Venoms: Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard, or Toad!
