Gummo

Gummo Review CFIR

This week on Cult Film in Review, we discuss the 1997 indie drama, Gummo, directed by the controversial, Harmony Korine. In this episode, Cody questions if there is some kind of conspiracy against him. Did Chris finally find an arthouse film Cody will like or will this episode be a throwback to The Holy Mountain? Also, The Crew tries to decipher some of the symbolism in this enigma of a movie. Is Bunny Boy a messianic figure, or are some bunny ears just bunny ears? We also get some history on Vaudeville from Cody and Mike attempts to teach the rest of the guys a little bit of Yiddish. It’s another one of those episodes that make you go, “hmm,” so strap on your thinking caps and take a ride through arthouse indie films with us!

  • Have you guys ever heard of the movie “illtown” directed by Nick Gomez. Staring Michael Rappaport, Lilly Taylor, Tony Danza among others. It’s a cool movie.

    • We haven’t, but with a cast like that, it will be added to the list! Thanks for listening and the suggestion!
