Tommy Wiseau Makes a Return to Film With Best F(r)iends

If there is one trust you can find in people with true passion it’s there unshakable dedication to their art. This is certainly the case with Tommy Wiseau, whatever your opinion of him or his films may be.

Wiseau hasn’t really had a real cult hit since his perfectly flawed film, The Room. The film has and most likely will always keep Wiseau’s name in the annals of cult film history. Its underground success, due mainly to word of mouth, harkens back to a time in cult film history when success came from the fans and not from viral explosions on Youtube.

Although Wiseau’s recent forays into the world of filmmaking, like his sitcom The Neighbors, have been met with less enthusiasm than The Room, he refuses to let that push him out of the film game. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Wiseau has teamed up with his Room co-star Greg Sestero to make a new film entitled Best F(r)iends. The film is based on a road trip the two of them took years ago and has now morphed into a bank heist film that curiously involves a jar of Vaseline. Wiseau will be staring again, this time as a mortician who promises the secret to happiness – or something like that. Sestero will play a drifter who is either looking for fame or a dentistry apprenticeship.

Wiseau plans for a theatrical release of the film which he promises, “after watching Best F(r)sends, your mind will find paradise.”

For a little taste of paradise, you can watch the trailer below.

Hopefully this film can find the same success as The Room, allowing fans of the original to look on as their mainstream friends stare at their film recommendation in sheer confusion.
